Joburg Film Festival's mission is to create a world renowned platform for the discovery and export of African storytelling and a platform for the most important films from outside the content to be shown first. The long-term effect is become a destination festival on the global calendar, playing a geographic importance equivalent to that of Sundance, TIFF, Cannes, and other marquee festival.
This means the festival has to do two jobs simulataneously. First, discover, source, commission, and showcase the next wave of great films from the continent and outside the continent first. Second, once the best films are secured, Joburg Film Festival has to communicate to the world that this is what has been achieved. This is where we come in.
Our solution to amplify Joburg Film Festival's reach and impact was built around empowering the community and stakeholders who work with JFF. Our primary focus was to create great content that can be used without attribution or cost by PR teams, sponsor partners, showcasing films and filmmakers, and all the stars in attendance. We believe the African.
To do this, we deployed a realtime content production team of six people to cover all facets of the festival. They created video content, design, and photography that was shared in one central shared location that all stakeholders could use. Our lead sponsors, PR teams, film production houses, and actors all used this opportunity to tell their own stories about JFF, leading to the highest share of voice, talkability, and platform growth the festival's ever experienced.
