Spotify is the world's largest music streaming service, with over 600m users worldwide. They offer an ad-supported free tier, and a paid Premium tier which offers several attractive features, including ad-free music streaming and the ability to store music for offline listening. Their growth team's job is to convert free users into paid users by spotlighting these benefits.
For 4MF, a campaign where users could get 4 months of Spotify Premium for free, we were asked to put together a broad comms campaign that could speak to the widest audience possible about the offer.
Coming to grips with Spotify's brand documents, how they use illustrations and people, and how they leverage their relationship with FC Barcelona, who they sponsor, our team produced three creative directions. The first direction, an illustrated route, tapped into World Cup Fever. The second direction, leveraging major influencers, used people to communicate 'four' using hand signals. Visually striking. Immediately understandable.
The final direction leveraged Spotify's relationship with FC Barcelona ahead of El Clasico,, the biggest derby in all of football.
